About Tom Shayeb, this week's feature;
Tufik "Tom" Shayeb has been writing poetry since 1997. In addition to appearing in several local anthologies, he has published two chapbooks titled Cracked Verses (2007) and I'll Love You to Smithereens (2008), the second of which is pending publication as a full length manuscript.
He came into the local Phoenix, Arizona performance arts scene in May of 2007 and, since that time, has performed at venues both locally and nationally, including: Mill's End Cafe (AZ), The Paper Heart (AZ), Chyro Arts Venue (AZ), The Fair Trade Cafe (AZ), The Ezzenza Coffee House (AZ), The Willow House Cafe (AZ), A Shot of Java (AZ), The Paisley Violin (AZ), Bragg's Old Pie Factory(AZ), Sprecher's Brewery (WI), Avol's Bookstore (WI), The Bartell: Drury Theater (WI), The University of Wisconsin (WI), The Orpheum Stage Door (WI), One Up Lounge (NM), Bentley's House of Coffee and Tea (AZ), The Applesauce Teahouse Spoken Word Theater (AZ), Mesa Community College (AZ), and Arizona State University Polytechnic (AZ).
In 2008, he was invited to read at Anthology Incorporated's Valentine's Day Massacre, opened for Derrick C. Brown's "The Lasers of Sexellence," and became a member of the Mesa Nationals Slam Team. In November of that year, he was asked to read at the Superstition Springs Review Reading Series.

Poets, musicians and others looking to participate in the 2009 Valentine's Day Massicree are encouraged to contact Sharon Skinner if they would like to be placed on the set list. The Valentine's Day Massicree is a variety sendup of "pro" love and "Not so Pro" Love acts creating an evening of fun, examination and thought related to love.
