The official Monday Poem Blog starts April 3, 2021- but we have a "Pre-Monday" poem to get you started. Enjoy!

 LANGUAGE

Language should not be
used as a weapon.

We can share it,
use it as a conduit through which
feelings and beliefs are
honestly shared.

Language should not threaten to
disembowel us,
or be used in drive-bys to
strike us down and
leave us bleeding.

We can use it to
create a bridge
between hearts and minds.

Instead of using it
to make surgical strikes
against the heart,

it can become an
expressive dance that
floats and spins our
glistening ideas across the
chasms of difference.

Language should not be allowed
to rage against us and
intimidate us into silence.

Language should be lyrical,
provide it’s own music,
and cause all who hear
to stop and listen.
