Lo Fi Forums

While sipping on coffee and snacking on fresh-made pastries baked in-house by Lo-Fi Coffee proprietor Sam Clark, Lo Fi Forums attendees enjoy the company and conversation of inspired local thinkers and do-ers. Inspired by events like TED, Ignite!, PetaKucha and 18th century coffee shop salons, Lo-Fi Forums is bringing community members closer together to talk about exciting ideas and projects happening locally and to meet their catalysts.

Forums take place at 7pm on the second Thursday of each month at Lo-Fi Coffee in Downtown Mesa. Each night, there are two 15 minute talks followed by a moderated Q & A and discussion. Topics are selected by the presenters and can be on any project or provocative idea. Previous speakers have included Jacob Rosenthal of HeatSync Labs talking about the present realities and the future possibilities of on-demand 3D printing and David Short of the Downtown Mesa Association, speaking about the possibilities of Mesa’s downtown. Other speakers have included Andrea Beesley-Brown and Sam Clark.

Lo-Fi Forums were started by Bob Nelson, founder of Anthology, Inc, a local literary non-profit with the goal of expanding the literary arts in the Valley, Sam Clark, owner of Lo-Fi Coffee,  and David Crummey, co-founder of Restless, a local writing anthology. Their goal was to allow speakers to share their ideas and passions with the greater community and to allow the community a glimpse into the amazing ideas of local catalysts, but also to allow for the interaction and discussion that is sometimes lacking at more formal events.
