This form allows you to sign up for the July 2009 series of 3 Workshops held by Anthology and hosted by Bob Nelson. The dates of the Sessions are:

July 23rd, 2009 6pm-7pm

The cost for the workshop is $15, and upon submitting this form, you will be directed to a Paypal page to complete registration. 50% of registration fees are donated to the 2009 Mesa National Poetry Slam Team.

Workshop Focus

The workshop is focused on beginners, poets and writers that are looking to learn more about poetry slam and performance poetry in a safe, encouraging environmenmt. Each session will focus on a topic discussion with Bob, wrapped around performance of pieces written by the attendees and a short writing session. Poets are encouraged to bring samples of their writing for performance.

Registration is limited to 10 participants.

About Bob Nelson

In 1994, Bob co-founded Anthology magazine with writer J.A. Giunta. The magazine would run for ten years and print a wide variety of up and coming poets and writers.

Also in 1994, Bob (also me) started the Essenzaslam Poetry Slam, which runs to this day as the longest running poetry slam in the Southwest.  Essenzaslam (or Mesa Slam, Anthology Slam) has had an unprecidented level of performance poetry success, winning 4 out of Arizona's 7 state championship slams from 2001-2007. In 2009, the slam will send their 13th poetry slam team to the national Poetry Slam, where the team reached the semi-finals of the national tournament in 1999, 2000 and 2005.

In 1999, Bob founded Spokenworld.com, a pioneer internet radio station focusing on spoken word programming.

In 2001, Bob co-founded Anthology, Inc. as a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

Currently, Bob is the chief of Brick Cave Media, a media microglomerate (his home office) for the crazy ideas that his friends and I dream up. In 2006, He released his second spoken word CD, Boboratory, that is available through the Brick Cave Media Store as either a physical CD or downloadable MP3’s through iTunes. He serve on the Board of Anthology, Inc., and still manages the affairs of the Mesa Poetry Slam Scene.
